Have your say on research into stillbirth and pregnancy loss after 20 weeks

Sands is part of the 2025 Stillbirth Priority Setting Partnership (PSP), which aims to find the most important research questions relating to babies who die after 20 weeks of pregnancy (before or during birth), or in the first 24 hours of life.

We know that in the UK, stillbirth is legally defined as the death of a baby after 24 weeks. For this PSP, we have defined stillbirth as the death of a baby after 20 weeks of pregnancy or within the first 24 hours of life, because the underlying causes are similar and we know the impact on families is always significant.

We would be grateful to hear your personal or professional experiences, so that as many people’s views as possible are included and reflected in the priorities. We hope this will help direct research and address existing gaps in understanding stillbirth for both parents and those who care for them.
